Hi all,
I've been using AutoSPInstaller many times to install SharePoint 2013 and recently also 2016 farms. The AutoSPInstaller scripts work amazingly well and saved me a lot of time getting SharePoint up and running. Thanks lot for sharing.
Now I used AutoSPInstaller to install two SP2016 farms and I realized an odd behavior with the SP config cache.
On the first farm server (and only on the first one) there is an additional SP config cache folder with the GUID 00000000-0000-0000-0000-000000000000. This folder obviously has been created during the installation. All files in this folder do still have the installation date (2/7/2017). I would like to know why this folder has been created and wondered if I could remove it. I renamed the folder and realized that certain information in Central Administration was no longer available e.g. web applications and content databases. The same happens when I include this folder in the procedure to clear the Config Cache (delete the XMLs and set Cache.ini = 1).
Could you please explain what this additional folder is for and if there is a way to remove it without breaking functionality. Or how to handle this folder correctly when there is the need to clear the config cache.
Thanks a lot.
