Can we do remote installation from AD server or any other server which would not be part of SharePoint farm... ?

Short Answer is "Yes". Longer answer, It is much Less work if the jump server is in the same domain. A Lot of work to make it work from a Server that is not in the same domain. I use the latter to provision SharePoint in Azure from a PC. I am not a fan of remote install in general unless it is in Azure, so I did not try this on-premise.

Thanks Joseph, for quick Answer

I did try from My end but could not succeed :(
My setup is as single server with separate SQL, and i wanted to do remote installation from AD sever.
Removed all references of LocalHost from Configuration XML file (AutoSPInstallerInput.xml) , set the remoteinstall true, offline mode in on, created a network shared folder on SharePoint server and accessed from AD server as shared, and executed the batch file, but getting below error,

verified the Remote install properties multiple times and it is True, still getting the output as :

  • There are other servers specified as farm members in:
  • \sps2013\AutoSP\AutoSPInstaller\SP\AutoSPInstaller\AutoSPInstallerInput.xml
  • but <RemoteInstall> is not set to "true" - nothing else to do.
  • Completed!

Am I missing something, could you please assist...
