Having trouble creating User Profile Service Application

Aug 21, 2013 at 8:31 PM
When provisioning User Profile Service Application, it keeps on looping. This is what I get

-Provisioning User Profile Service Application
-Starting User Profile Service instance
-Web app "MySite Host" already provisioned.
-Creating User Profile Service Application
-Waiting for User Profile Service Application.................................

WARNING: Timed out waiting for service creation (maybe a UAC prompt?)

Press any key to try again...

When I press any key, I notice that another PowerShell box opens with red lettering and then closes immediately without being able to see the error. What can I do? Any tips would be helpful. Thanks in advance

Have a look here: http://www.harbar.net/articles/sp2010ups.aspx

The UPS is one of those services whereby if everything is not setup correctly, it will fail to provision. Although the article applies to SharePoint 2010, the same concepts apply to SharePoint 2013.

Once the above is confirmed, you can run AutoSPInstaller again.

You can also check the ULS logs/Event viewer to see if there is more detail.

Thanks for your tip. I had to setup the UPS following the the steps listed in the article and then I was able to run AutoSPInstaller with success.
