Setting database path during install

Jul 15, 2013 at 4:42 PM

I'm wondering if there is a way to set the path for database location when using the autospinstaller.

I have a two server farm, one front-end\app server and the second will be the SQL server. I would like to be able to specify where on my SQL server the databases get created. Is this possible using auto-spinstaller? if not, is my only choice to create the databases using the default autospinstaller settings and then move the databases after the install is complete?

Thanks for any help.

It is not possible, but you have two options:
1: Move the databases after.
2: Set the default Database Location in SQL prior to the installation.

Thanks Ivan,

I cannot set the default db location prior to the install because the DBs will be spread across multiple mount points.

I will look at a script to move the dbs after the install.

You could also pre-create the DBs in the desired paths first - I believe SharePoint can and will use these empty databases as it finds each of them by its matching name.
