Connection Error to SQL Instance

Hello,

I just pulled down the latest version 3.86 and I am not able to connect to a sql instance. In previous version I have not seen this issue :( Below is the error:
  • Testing access to SQL server/instance/alias: P10SPTSQL01\ALSHAREPOINTDEV

- Trying to connect to "P10SPTSQL01\ALSHAREPOINTDEV"... - Fail

  • Script halted!
  • Connection Error. Check server name, port, firewall.
    Press any key to exit...
Here is the config values:

<Database>
        <!-- If you are creating an alias (recommended!), <DBServer> is actually the value of the SQL alias; otherwise it's the NetBIOS name of the SQL server or instance.
             If you leave <DBServer> blank or specify localhost, script will assume the local server for SQL databases -->
        <DBServer>P10SPTSQL01\ALSHAREPOINTDEV</DBServer>
        <!-- The script can create a SQL alias for you. Enter the DBInstance, and if you leave <DBPort> blank, script will assume default port value of 1433 -->
        <DBAlias Create="false"
                 DBInstance="SERVER\INSTANCE"
                 DBPort="" />

Thank you!

Actually I figured it out. There are a couple database entry points in the AutoSPInstallerInput.xml that have DBAlias Create="true"... by default.

They are:
  • AppManagementService
  • SubscriptionSettingsService
  • MachineTranslationService
I just had to remove the DB Alias on the local OS level and the installer worked just fine.

Thanks!
