Change the default install path

Aug 21, 2012 at 3:01 PM

I see the config.xml file has the following path for installation of SP2010:

<INSTALLLOCATION Value="%PROGRAMFILES%\Microsoft Office Servers\" />

However, the installation of the hive went to C:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\Web Server Extensions\14.

What is the value above used for? Looks like OWA....How can I force the hive to d:\ with autospinstaller?

The above value is for some SharePoint Server (vs. Foundation) specific stuff. And you can't force the hive to D: or another location unless you actually change the value of the %COMMONPROGRAMFILES% environment variable on your server (not recommended, as it affects lots of other stuff & will most likely break something).

Besides you shouldn't be to concerned about the location of installed binary files - what you should be concerned about (and what is changeable via AutoSPInstaller) is the location of things like the log files and the search index.
