Create User Profile Service without creating a my site web application

Hi All,

I have a suggestion. I think each web application should a provision attribute (true/false) stating whether or not the wep application should be provisioned.

In this way it could be possible to create the user profile service could be created with the autospinstaller without having to create a my site web application.

As far as I can see, it would then be possible to add a my site host another time.

What do your think?

If I remember correctly, you can avoid creating the MySite webapp by just commenting it out in your input XML.

I think you can't configure the User Profile service without setting his MySite URL.

There is a previous post with this answer from brian : http://autospinstaller.codeplex.com/discussions/277541

I can see that is has been discussed before.

According to MS a my site host is needed for the social features.

So if no social features is needed, it should be possible to utilize UPS without a my site host.

When installing the UPS from the UI, it can be done without a my site host.

I have in "my version" of autospinstaller added a provision attribute in the xml and adapter the script to check for this.
