Adobe iFilter

On Step 6 of Part 2 of Wahid Saleemi's wonderful AutoSPInstaller guide, (http://www.wahidsaleemi.com/2011/11/autospinstaller-getting-prepared/), he says that AutoSPInstaller will take care of the Adove iFilter, and that you don't have to download it.  However, I saw that AutoSPInstaller was looking for the installation package, and it had to take the time to go online and download it for me.  It found it, and installed it just fine.

I just want to mention here, that if you really want to do an offline install, it seems that you ought to download the Adobe iFilter.

I am using a copy of AutoSPInstaller that I downloaded from here on March 6, 2012.

There is a folder "PDF" in the script. In this folder, you can find a README file with that content :

You can pre-download the Adobe PDF iFilter from here: http://download.adobe.com/pub/adobe/acrobat/win/9.x/PDFiFilter64installer.zip
The official PDF icon is available here: http://www.adobe.com/images/pdficon_small.gif (once downloaded, rename it to icpdf.gif in order for AutoSPInstaller to pick it up)
Place the .zip (or the extracted .msi) in this folder along with the icpdf.gif, and AutoSPInstaller can automatically install them in order to be able to index PDF files and display the icon properly in SharePoint search results, document libraries, etc.

Just do that, and your installation will not need internet connection anymore. If you havn't downloaded it before, yes, it will automatically search it on the net for you.
