"$" in password?

Nov 28, 2011 at 2:28 PM

OK, dumb question here...

I have a vague recollection that there may be issues when a password includes the $ symbol. I've tried searching the discussion but not found a reference to this. I just had a couple of new service accounts set up for a new install and noticed that one of them contains this character in its password. I can't recall if there's something special I need to do to handle this scenario or maybe I need to request a change to that password.

If anyone recalls this issue or where it's discussed and can point me in the right direction I'd sure appreciate it...  :)

I once thought the $ would be a problem, but it seems not to be... Anyhow check the comments at the top of the sample AutoSPInstallerInput.xml file for more details.

Thanks for the quick response! I knew I'd seen it somewhere (even looked in the input.xml file down by the managed accounts! I'll try it with the $ symbol for now and see what happens.

Thanks again!
