Including SP1 and Cumulative Updates in installation

Sep 7, 2011 at 12:24 AM

I want to include both Service Pack 1 and the June Cumulative Update (KB2536599) into my AutoSPInstaller installation of SharePoint Server 2010. Can I accomplish this by simply extracting the contents of SP1 and the CU hotfixes into my SharePoint > Updates folder? I've used the installer script for an instllation from the base media, which worked well, but now I'm trying to slipstream the most recent patches and updates into my unattended installation process.

Any guidance would be greatly appreciated!

I'm going to start a new thread on this, but I'll write it here also.

You can't slipstream both SP1 and the CU (August just came out today!) - if you have language packs...

If you just have a en-us (standard) SharePoint, then no problem.
Extract SP1 into the Updates folder, and after that, extract AUG CU into the Updates folder overwrighting any files.

But, all of us non-english speakers need to apply the CU's after installation (bummer!)

Timiun - Thanks for the confirmation and also for the tip about the August CU!

Instead of creating a new thread for the latest CU (July 2nd 2012) I'm gonna revive this.

I have on brand new test environment tried to install SP2010 wSP1 and copied the files from the July 2nd 2012 CU extracted and copied to the "updates" folder (which overwrites some of the files) and tried to run installs using AutoSPInstaller.

A complete install results in a totally broken Sharepoint.

If I remove the provisioning of User Profile Import / MySites / Search I get a sharepoint that appears to be working fine but with a bunch of warnings in my event viewer. Critical events about the help-installation and cacheusers not being registered (but they are configured in the input-xml).

So, anyone else having these issues when deploying a brand new SP2010 wSP1 with the July 2nd 2012 CU streamlined

There haven't been any such major regressions reported with the June 2012 CU... I wonder if your install source didn't somehow get corrupted.

You could try rebuilding it using - let me know how that goes (or maybe you've since resolved the issue since it's been a while...)
