Beta2 67032 - Stuck in a loop creating User Profile Service

Feb 3, 2011 at 3:57 PM

Can anyone suggest a way to get unstuck trying to create the User Profile Service?  The function appears to be CreateUPSasAdmin.  At first, we thought it was UAC, but we tried completely disabling it, just to check and that didn't make any difference.  If we go to the AutoSPInstaller-scriptblock.ps1 and run the create application line by hand, it says a job already exists, but the name is "".  The error as seen in the main window is shown below:

- Provisioning User Profile Service Application
- Getting Hosted Services Application Pool, creating if necessary...
- Starting User Profile Service instance...
- Web app "MySiteHost" already provisioned.
- Creating User Profile Service Application...
Start-Process : This command cannot be executed due to the error: The directory
name is invalid.

The PowerShell execution policy gets set by default for the LocalMachine scope.  Using unrestricted at the LocalMachine, Process, and CurrentUser scopes got us past this error.
